Welcome to Parenting in the Sweet Spot!

Twenty-seven years ago, I became a mother. I’ve loved it all – the fluttering baby kicks of pregnancy, the unique stories from each labor & delivery, the nursing, cuddling, toddling, schooling, exploring, achieving … I’m endlessly fascinated with the unfolding of each of my four sons’ lives.  Two months ago, my youngest turned eighteen years old, and just this week he graduated from high school; the calendar marches on, and my hands-on mothering days are over.

Now that my sons don’t still need me to pour their juice or help with homework, I can reflect on what was actually going on while they’ve been growing up.  I’m turning my attention to understanding how the developmental windows of opportunity open up.  When and how can we make the most of those phases in our children’s lives?

As my sons are transitioning to adulthood, I’m transitioning to this new era in parenting.  I anticipate being thoroughly delighted with reliving special moments in my sons’ growing-up years as I study the amazing timeline of human growth.  When I gain insight and knowledge of these milestones, I’ll blog about it here.
